Malicious YouTube Videos Removed
Google has removed a network of 3,000 malicious YouTube videos used to spread malware.
The "YouTube Ghost Network" was a sophisticated campaign that took advantage of YouTube's features to promote harmful content.
- Videos were disguised as "Game Hack/Cheat" and "Software Cracks/Piracy"
- These areas have a large viewership and often encourage downloading software
- Such "cracked" software is illegal and often contains malware
Check Point Research discovered the network, which had hundreds of thousands of views.
The videos promoted harmful content, taking advantage of YouTube's features.
