The Luzerne County Election Board’s post-election adjudication will commence earlier than in previous years.
According to County Election Director Emily Cook, adjudication will begin on Thursday, November 9, instead of the traditional Friday after elections.
Adjudication is the process of determining which flagged mail and provisional ballots are accepted or rejected and tallying write-in votes.
Cook attributed the earlier start to changes in procedures, prioritizing adjudication preparation to ensure all necessary information for the November 4 general election is ready.
The adjudication process, open to the public, will start at 9 a.m.
Traditionally, adjudication begins the Friday after elections
Author’s summary: Election board starts adjudication sooner.
