Proposition 50, a statewide Congressional redistricting measure, was approved in California with just under 64% of voters saying yes and slightly over 36% saying no.
Governor Gavin Newsom pushed the measure, which allows for the temporary redistricting of Congressional maps for the elections in 2026, 2028, and 2030.
The state map shows that it was supported by more Democratic leaning coastal communities and opposed in the more conservative inland areas.
Prop 50 was proposed by Newsom to boost Democratic Congressional seats in response to redistricting actions in Texas to increase Republican seats.
