A Revolutionary Comedy: GSU Theatre premieres The Revolutionists

Georgia Southern Theatre brings history, humor, and heart to the stage with The Revolutionists, a play that reimagines the French Revolution through the eyes of four extraordinary women.

The play, written by Georgia native Lauren Gunderson, follows playwright Olympe De Gouge, assassin Charlotte Corday, former queen Marie Antoinette, and Haitian rebel Marianne Anegelle as they navigate one of France's most chaotic eras.

The cast has had terrific chemistry, which has led to a lot of great discoveries

- said Director Nicholas Newell. The play explores themes of art, activism, feminism, legacy, and storytelling, all under the looming threat of the guillotine.

The Georgia Southern Theatre production stars four actresses playing these very real women, bringing a fierce and funny reimagining of the French Revolution to life.
