Travel Weekly previewed Rick Stein’s latest restaurant at the soon-to-open 198-key InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach. The venue blends a relaxed Mediterranean seaside atmosphere with refined Australian style.
The restaurant accommodates 224 guests across three distinct areas: an open-air courtyard near the redesigned main entrance, a balcony overlooking Arden Street, and a main dining space. The interiors feature floor-to-ceiling doors leading to a deck, offering both intimate and communal dining settings.
Sass’s Bar, named after Stein’s Australian PR wife Sarah, occupies the site of the former karaoke bar from the building’s Crowne Plaza days. This new addition brings an elegant yet familiar touch to the venue’s history.
A soft opening for 80 invited guests will precede the official arrival of Rick Stein on December 20. Over 3,500 visitors accessed the booking platform shortly after it launched, demonstrating strong anticipation for the restaurant’s debut.
The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner on weekends, and offer dinner-only service from Monday through Thursday.
“Sydney’s Coogee Beach is the perfect location for our flagship Australian restaurant,” Stein said. “It’s relaxed yet sophisticated, with that incredible connection to the ocean that has always inspired my cooking. For us, this feels like coming home.”
