Renowned TV chef and author Rick Stein will visit Morpeth Waterstones on Thursday, November 13 to sign copies of his latest book, Rick Stein’s Christmas. Caroline Dominey spoke with him about the book and what Christmas means to him.
Rick Stein explains how the idea came from his wife Sarah, who has long encouraged him to create a Christmas-themed cookbook. Being Australian, she cherishes the Christmas spirit in the UK, which motivated him to capture that festive feeling.
“I think with Christmas you forget it until it comes around again, but as soon as I started thinking about recipes and memories of Christmas it became a no-brainer. I think we all love Christmas in our heart, it’s something that matters to us in this slightly rainy island and it was a joy to do.”
Rick highlights the festive food as central to the holiday for him, including Christmas turkey, glazed ham, chutneys, jams, and mulled wine. He also expresses a love for Christmas music.
“I also actually really love Christmas songs. There is a whole piece in the book about Christmas No 1’s! And I’ve always loved carols and carol services.”
He believes many people share his interest in the various traditions and joys of Christmas.
The book is a heartfelt tribute to the festive season, combining cherished recipes and traditions in one collection.
This event highlights Rick Stein’s passionate celebration of Christmas through recipes and traditions, making his new book a warm invitation to enjoy the festive season.
