A new international passenger rail link between China and Laos began trial operations on Monday, connecting Mohan Railway Station in Mengla County, Yunnan Province, with Boten Railway Station in Laos. This marks the first commuter-style international passenger service between the two countries.
Xia Mo, deputy general manager of Yunnan Tourism Co Ltd, said the company will maintain a service philosophy of “safety, professionalism, and dedication” to provide travelers with “the convenience and warmth of this road of friendship.”
The new passenger line connects directly to the China–Laos Railway, allowing seamless intermodal transport between road and rail for international travelers. The service aims to improve cross-border travel efficiency and strengthen regional connectivity.
