Canon EOS R6 Mark III– 33MP Sensor & 7K Open Gate Internal RAW Recording - Newsshooter

Canon EOS R6 Mark III Overview

Canon has announced the new EOS R6 Mark III, which shares many features with the Canon EOS C50 but in a form factor more suited for still photography. Despite this, the R6 Mark III offers strong video capabilities.

Sensor and Image Quality

The EOS R6 Mark III features the same 32MP 3:2 full-frame sensor as the EOS C50, an upgrade from the 24.2MP CMOS sensor in the R6 Mark II. Unlike models such as the EOS C80 and C400, the R6 Mark III does not use a Dual Gain Output (DGO) or a back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor.

Video Capabilities

These specs match those of the EOS C50, showing strong video performance despite the camera's still photography orientation.

Processor

The EOS R6 Mark III uses the DIGIC DV 7 processor, which is also found in the Canon C50, C80, C400, C500 Mark II, and C300 Mark III, ensuring powerful processing and efficient performance.

“It’s interesting to see that the R6 Mark III and C50 don’t feature a Back Illuminated Stacked sensor like the C80 and C400, and R3. One of the reasons a lot of companies are now utilizing back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensors is that they allow for better AF performance.”

The EOS R6 Mark III is the successor to the R6 Mark II, released over three years ago, with the original R6 introduced in July 2020.

Summary: The Canon EOS R6 Mark III blends advanced video specs from cinema models with a refined stills-friendly design, powered by a robust 32MP sensor and DIGIC DV 7 processor.
