Canon EOS R6 Mark III Review

The Canon EOS R6 Mark III is a mid-range full-frame mirrorless camera that succeeds the EOS R6 Mark II, introduced in 2023. This new model features a 32.5-megapixel CMOS sensor, offering a 25% increase in resolution over its 24.2-megapixel predecessor.

Performance and Shooting Capabilities

The R6 Mark III delivers continuous shooting at up to 40 frames per second with the electronic shutter, maintaining full auto-focus and auto-exposure. When using the mechanical shutter, it achieves 12fps, comparable to the performance of the flagship EOS R3.

Video and Stabilisation Features

The camera supports internal 7K RAW video recording at 60p and 30p with the Open Gate mode enabled. It also offers oversampled 4K/60p video, high frame rate shooting up to 4K 120p or 2K 180p, and introduces 4K/60p UVC live streaming—an EOS full-frame first.

“There is up to 8.5-stops of image stabilisation available via a combination of the camera's in-body Image Stabiliser which works in tandem with the attached lens’s own stabilisation system.”

ISO and Sensor Performance

The native ISO range spans from 100 to 51,200, expandable to ISO 50–102,400. This flexibility ensures excellent performance across different lighting conditions, making it well-suited for both stills and video production.

Author’s Summary

The Canon EOS R6 Mark III refines its predecessor’s capabilities, adding higher resolution, improved burst speed, enhanced video options, and strengthened stabilisation—all in a balanced, high-performance package.
