During the fourth T20I between Australia and India at Carrara Oval in Gold Coast, Team India all-rounder Axar Patel and wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma convinced captain Suryakumar Yadav to use the DRS after Australia opener Matt Short was trapped in front in the fifth over of the run chase.
Initially, the on-field umpire ruled Short not out, but after the review was taken, the decision was overturned, giving India their first breakthrough in the match.
Axar Patel bowled tightly, conceding just two runs in his first four deliveries. Attempting to pressure Patel, Short tried a sweep shot but missed it completely.
Jitesh Sharma suggested the ball had hit Short in line with the stumps, and the bowler shared the same belief.
They urged the captain to take a review. With seconds remaining, the review was called.
Ball tracking revealed three red lights, confirming the ball hit the stumps, resulting in a successful appeal for India.
This marked an important turning point, securing India’s first wicket in the chase.
Matt Short fell for 25, impacting the Australian innings.
Axar Patel and Jitesh Sharma’s timely review call helped India gain a critical breakthrough, turning the momentum in their favor during the 4th T20I against Australia.
