Justin Rose's management team informed Today's Golfer that the English golfer has decided to focus on playing in one more Ryder Cup before considering a captaincy role.
The race to find Europe’s next Ryder Cup captain appears to be down to just two candidates. In July, at the Genesis Scottish Open, Rose expressed his enthusiasm for leading the team at Adare Manor in 2027. He said it would be a responsibility to which he would “give everything.”
“I would love to lead the side at Adare Manor in 2027,” Rose told TG.
After winning the FedEx St Jude Championship, the first event of the PGA Tour’s playoff series, Rose secured an automatic berth on Luke Donald’s team for Bethpage. His performance in New York, where he earned two points and increased his Ryder Cup tally to 17½, moving into the all-time top 10, has intensified his desire to compete again.
A report by The Telegraph’s James Corrigan stated that sources close to Rose confirmed his intention to play in an eighth Ryder Cup. Today’s Golfer contacted Rose’s team, who confirmed:
Rose made it clear he has no interest in acting as a player-captain, stating:
“I’m not sure that’s a role we should be entertaining really.”
Justin Rose prioritizes competing in another Ryder Cup before considering captaincy, showing his commitment to finishing his playing career on a high competitive note.
