A portion of the Green Trail in Birmingham Park, Milton, is temporarily closed to support habitat restoration efforts aimed at benefiting local wildlife and ecosystems.
The closed section runs along the northern edge near the Little River. This area has been temporarily restricted to help environmental recovery, as announced recently by the City of Milton.
The restoration benefits several species native to the area, including box turtles, snakes, and armadillos. Efforts also concentrate on protecting the river cane growth, a vital plant species for the local ecosystem.
Volunteers from the Young Men’s Service Chapter have collaborated with city staff to manage the closure and maintain clear signage to ensure the protected area remains undisturbed.
Although this part of the Green Trail is closed, visitors can still enjoy other trails across Birmingham Park’s 200 acres, which remain open for public use.
"The closure aims to support environmental recovery efforts benefiting local species, including box turtles, snakes, and armadillos that inhabit the area."
Author's summary: Temporary closure of Birmingham Park’s Green Trail segment helps restore vital habitats and protect native species, with ongoing public access to other park trails.
