Will Richard, a former Florida basketball star, made an impressive debut as a starter in the NBA by scoring 30 points for the Golden State Warriors. In his first NBA start on Wednesday, Nov. 6, Richard shot 10 of 15 from the field, including five three-pointers, during a 121-116 loss against the Sacramento Kings.
Besides his scoring, Richard contributed seven rebounds and three assists over 35 minutes of play.
“He’s shown he’s an NBA player,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said. “The experience, the poise – he doesn’t turn it over, he makes the right play. This guy’s a hell of a player.”
At the postgame press conference, Richard was asked if scoring 30 points was significant to him. This season, he has averaged 9.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.
