Historic Bridge Hit by Oversized Trailer
The Robert Parker Coffin Bridge in Long Grove has been struck by a large trailer, marking at least the 69th time the bridge has been hit.
The incident occurred on Thursday around 10:50 p.m. and was partially caught on surveillance video by Neumann’s Cigars and More.
- The video showed a white pickup truck pulling a large trailer that scraped the bridge canopy.
- The driver stopped the vehicle and got out after the incident.
Neumann’s Cigars and More was alerted to the hit by their nighttime security service.
This is not the first time the bridge has been struck, with previous incidents occurring in June and May 20.
No comment was made by the authorities.
