Lewis Hamilton was "really surprised" by something Fernando Alonso did before his F1 debut.
Hamilton's debut Formula 1 campaign was marked by a tense intra-team battle with Alonso, who had joined McLaren for the 2007 F1 season after winning back-to-back drivers' championships with Renault.
Ron Dennis had signed Alonso, considered the most talented driver on the grid at the time, and also decided to promote Hamilton, McLaren's young talent, to F1 after he won the GP2 championship.
Hamilton and Alonso had a fierce rivalry throughout the season, ultimately costing each other the title, which was won by Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari.
