Ramara Councillor Blocked from Attending ROMA Conference
Three Ramara council members will attend the annual Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) conference in January, but Councillor Sherri Bell's request has been denied.
The conference is an opportunity for municipal leaders to connect and discuss challenges and opportunities unique to rural communities in Ontario.
- Mayor Basil Clarke and Deputy Mayor Keith Bell will attend on behalf of the County of Simcoe.
- Councillors Dana Tuju, Jennifer Fisher, and Joe Gough will attend as representatives of Ramara.
Expenses to attend the ROMA Ontario's Rural Leaders Conference are covered by taxpayers.
Coun. Bell's attendance at the conference would be considered "when you start following the legislation", according to Mayor Clarke.
