A woman from Hoofddorp, who was abducted on her way to work in Beverwijk, is being used as a pawn in a conflict between international drugs gangs, according to Dutch police.
Six people have been arrested in connection with her disappearance, with ages ranging from 17 to 37. One of the arrested individuals is from Belgium, while the others were picked up in the Netherlands.
The woman's car was found in nearby Nieuw-Vennep after she left her home in Hoofddorp on Wednesday morning but never arrived at work.
Other countries are now involved in the investigation, but the authorities declined to specify which ones.
