Beckman, M.D., a cornea specialist, does not see insurers as an obstacle to patients receiving the "epi-on" approach to corneal collagen crosslinking, which he prefers over the epi-off approach.
“Most health care plans now cover crosslinking,”
he said. Although prior authorizations are often required, most plans have been covering the treatment. Beckman presented positive research findings on the epi-on approach at the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting in Orlando, Florida.
