Exports of spirits to Canada have plummeted 85% this year, with declines also seen in other markets, according to an industry group.
American distillers are facing a significant setback in Canada, where their exports have dropped substantially due to global trade tensions.
“Even though things have eased up, we still are not back on the shelf in Canada,” said Kentucky craft distiller Tom Bard. “Probably won’t be for a good long while.”
The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States notes that most Canadian provinces continue to ban American spirits from shelves, despite the removal of retaliatory tariffs.
