Alia Bhatt Breaks Record at Filmfare Awards
Alia Bhatt made history at the 70th Filmfare Awards, winning her sixth Best Actress trophy for her role in Jigra.
She surpassed legendary actresses Nutan and Kajol, who were tied at five wins each, with Nutan achieving the record in 1979 and Kajol equalling it with her win for My Name Is Khan.
Alia's win also marked her third consecutive victory, a feat few have achieved before her.
Meanwhile, the film Laapataa Ladies dominated the technical and supporting categories, grabbing a record 13 awards, but drew a blank in the acting categories.
Her award was for Jigra, in which she played a sister who attempts a daring jailbreak to save her brother.
