Law-enforcement authorities have pressed criminal charges against two of at least 13 priests detained in a criminal investigation linked to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian’s efforts to depose the supreme head of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Catholicos Garegin II.
A Yerevan court has allowed the detention of Bishop Mkrtich Proshian and a local parish priest. The other clerics were released without charge.
