A councillor has submitted a proposal to relocate the bottle banks at Purth church in North Longford.
Fine Gael Cllr Garry Murtagh raised the issue at the September meeting of Granard Municipal District, calling on Longford County Council to make provision for the relocation of the bottle banks when developing the new car park in Derrycasin woods/Mullinalaghta.
Every area should have a bottle bank in their community to promote recycling.
The motion was seconded by Independent Cllr Turlough McGovern, who described it as a "very good motion".
Cllr Murtagh noted that the current location of the bottle bank at Purth is causing concern among local residents due to the attraction of vermin and its proximity to a house, approximately 25 metres away.
