Unbreakable X-Men #1 Doesn't Use "The Age of Revelation" Idea to Its Utmost (Review)

Unbreakable X-Men #1 Review

Unbreakable X-Men has rich emotional storytelling, but fails to utilize the freedom of an alternate universe story like "The Age of Revelation" to its fullest potential.

The X-Men's newest event story, "The Age of Revelation", is set ten years in the future, where Revelation, formerly Doug Ramsey, has taken control of a large portion of the United States amidst a virus that ravages the human race.

The X-Men are the last remaining superheroes, striving to free the Revelation territories while keeping the rest of the world safe.

Unbreakable X-Men #1 focuses on the Uncanny X-Men team in this dark future, with an interesting build, but ultimately falls short of coming together.

Simone doesn’t really use the idea of “The Age of Revelation” to its utmost, and that’s a problem for this issue.

Author's summary: Unbreakable X-Men #1 lacks full potential.
