The series, available at investigatewest.org/guarded-by-predators, sheds light on the system that shields predatory conduct by prison guards.
In January 2018, a woman, referred to as Lynn, was taken to a medical clinic at South Idaho Correctional Institution to undergo a procedure to remove abnormal cervical tissue.
Lynn was escorted by a guard named Ricardo Quiroz, known as "Corporal Q." After the procedure, Quiroz told Lynn to sit in the back of the van, where he followed her and instructed her to remove her pants, according to Lynn's account to InvestigateWest.
Lynn's experience is a disturbing example of the predatory conduct by some prison guards in Idaho's prison system.
The "Guarded by Predators" series aims to expose the truth behind rape and abuse by Idaho's prison guards and the system that enables them.
