Geothermal Drilling Project in Kosice, Slovakia

Drilling of three geothermal wells is set to begin in Kosice, Slovakia, as part of a project to supply one of the largest geothermal heating plants in Europe.

The drilling work, which starts this week, is for a planned geothermal heating project at the Svinica-Durkov site in Kosice.

The project is being implemented by GEOTERM KOSICE and MH Teplarensky holding, with significant participation from the City of Kosice.

The estimated capacity of the geothermal resource is 90 to 100 MWt, corresponding to about 175,000 MWh of thermal energy annually.
