Marshall Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison is optimistic about the future of the Thundering Herd amidst the changing landscape of college athletics.
Harrison addressed the university's Board of Governors, discussing new rules that establish a single transfer portal window for college football players in January.
"That puts us in a little bit of a crunch to get student-athletes here before the drop/add date, but we do know that whatever team we have at that point in January, we know that's the team that we will field—more than likely the majority of them—through the fall,"
Harrison believes this change, although potentially a year late, is an improvement, especially after the significant turnover in the Marshall football program following head coach Charles Huff's departure last year.
