Police Address Concerns Over Armed Sovereign Citizens in Northern Tasmania
Police have downplayed concerns over the potential risk posed by armed so-called sovereign citizens in Northern Tasmania.
Assistant Commissioner Rob Blackwood stated that
Tasmania Police regularly review this informationand actively monitors individuals who identify as sovereign citizens to maintain community safety.
This comes after Western Australian Police seized more than 100 guns earlier this month from people with views consistent with those of sovereign citizens.
Tasmania Police does not comment on specific individual policing activities due to operational and investigative reasons, according to Assistant Commissioner Blackwood.
