In South Dakota, it is still Native American Day, a declaration made by the governor's office over 30 years ago.
The recent change of the national holiday by President Trump has sparked frustration among some Native Americans.
"We're celebrating today regardless of what anybody is saying," said one organizer.
Organizers and participants of the Native American Day Parade are reacting to the overturning of Native American Day nationwide and the reinstatement of Columbus Day.
"Very non-controversial, frankly, but some people would say it's controversial," said President Trump. "We're calling it Columbus Day. Yes."
Some Native Americans are wondering if President Trump could broker peace with them, just as he is doing in the Middle East.
