Bird Flu Outbreak in Indiana
A bird flu outbreak has led to the quarantine of 19,000 ducks at 5 Indiana farms.
The Indiana State Board of Animal Health announced the quarantine of four more facilities after a commercial duck farm in northeastern Indiana was initially quarantined.
- A LaGrange County farm with 2,617 meat ducks was quarantined on Thursday.
- An Elkhart County farm with 3,500 ducks raised for meat production was quarantined the next day.
- Three more farms were added to the list on Monday:
- A commercial meat farm in Elkhart County with 6,755 ducks.
- A commercial breeder developer with 5,755 ducks.
- A commercial breeder operation with 3,994 ducks.
Surveillance zones have been established to control the spread of the virus.
