A pair of high school golfers from WHSV’s viewing area shined at the VHSL Class 3 Golf Championship.
Wilson Memorial senior Jackson Devereux and Spotswood sophomore Jacob Burkholder, who were both playing in the same group, each recorded top-five finishes at Heritage Oaks Golf Course on Monday.
Devereux got off to a fast start with birdies on two of the first four holes. After a shaky final stretch of holes on the front nine that included a double-bogey on the par-5 seventh, a birdie on the par-3 eighth and a bogey on the par-4 ninth to finish the front nine at even-par, Devereux played the back nine at 1-over.
Burkholder started his round with a birdie on the par-4 first.
