Rita "Dede" Smith Shipley
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rita "Dede" Smith Shipley of Soddy Daisy, on October 12, 2025, at the age of 70.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and Mamaw, whose love, strength, and faith touched everyone she met. Born on June 6, 1955, Dede lived a life rooted in grace, compassion, and devotion to her family, friends, and her Lord.
Her kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit were a reflection of the Proverbs 31 woman; clothed in dignity, speaking with wisdom, and serving with joy.
Dede was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church and a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School class of 1973. A lifelong resident of Soddy Daisy, she loved and served her community alongside her husband.
