The Nation Newspaper reports that the Edo State House of Assembly’s ad-hoc committee investigating the Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) and Radisson Hotel projects has intensified pressure on former Governor Godwin Obaseki. The committee threatened to issue an arrest warrant for Obaseki after he failed to appear, citing ongoing court cases and legal actions related to MOWAA and the Radisson Hotel funding. The panel asserts it has the power to compel attendance, stating that those invited include former Edo Finance Commissioner Joseph Eboigbe and other senior officials and corporate representatives; they claim non-attendance does not negate the right to fair hearing. Chair Addeh Isibor described the inquiry as fact-finding rather than witch-hunt and reaffirmed that findings will be based on evidence, noting that some invitees sent reasons via lawyers for their absence. Obaseki’s absence is attributed to lawsuits in various courts, yet the committee maintains it can pursue testimony through legal channels if necessary.
