OCSC Criticizes Osun Government for Keeping Amotekun Office Closed

The Osun Civil Societies Coalition (OCSC) has voiced strong dissatisfaction with the Osun State Government for keeping the Amotekun Corps’ headquarters locked for an extended period. The coalition warns that the ongoing closure has created what it calls a “dangerous security vacuum” within the state.

Security Concerns and Criticism

In a press statement released in Osogbo, the group argued that the Amotekun Corps plays a vital role in maintaining community safety and complementing mainstream security agencies. By keeping its operational office closed, the state government has allegedly weakened public safety and undermined trust in its ability to protect citizens.

“The continuous closure of Amotekun’s office is dangerous and irresponsible. It exposes Osun residents to unnecessary risks,” the coalition declared.

Call for Immediate Action

The OCSC urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to reopen the Amotekun office without delay and allow officers to resume their duties. The statement emphasized that political disagreements or administrative restructuring should not compromise security efforts.

“Security should remain above politics. Citizens deserve protection and peace of mind,” the group added.

The coalition also called on the State House of Assembly to investigate the reasons behind the closure and ensure supervision of the state’s grassroots security framework.

Author’s summary: OCSC accused the Osun government of neglecting public safety by keeping Amotekun’s office closed, warning this inaction endangers community security until urgent reopening occurs.
