Early November in the UK has brought a notably mild spell, with temperatures rising well above the seasonal average. However, the latest 10-day forecast from the Met Office indicates that this calm and warm weather will likely give way to more unsettled and changeable conditions as the new working week begins.
The current weather is influenced by a highly wavy jet stream across the Atlantic, causing a series of dips and troughs. One trough extends toward Iberia and is expected to deepen over the next few days, anchoring low pressure to the south and moving it towards the UK by the weekend.
Following this, another dip in the jet stream is anticipated, creating a wider trough in the Atlantic. This pattern of a weakening and amplifying jet stream is driving the slow-moving weather systems predicted for next week, resulting in a competition between low pressure to the west and high pressure east of the UK.
One standout characteristic of this period is the unseasonably mild temperatures. On Thursday, highs are forecasted to reach the mid to upper teens Celsius, with some areas seeing 15, 16, or even 17°C—approximately six to seven degrees above the typical average for this time of year.

The UK continues to experience unusually mild weather for November, but shifting jet stream patterns are set to bring more unsettled and changeable conditions soon.
