Greater Dandenong City Council was honoured for its remarkable dedication to sustainability by receiving the 2025 Cities Litter Award at the 43rd Annual Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Tidy Towns & Cities Sustainability Awards.
These awards highlight environmental accomplishments and a strong community spirit throughout Victoria. They recognise initiatives that empower people, promote behavioural change, protect the environment, reduce waste, involve youth and Indigenous groups, and build resilience.
The Council’s Waste Services team earned the award for their “Bin It or Take It Home With You” campaign. This program educates residents on proper litter disposal and raises awareness of litter’s detrimental effects on the environment.
“This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Waste Services Team, not just for this project, but for the work they do every day,” said Council Executive Director City Futures, Sanjay Manivasagasivam.
He added, “We’re proud to lead initiatives that make our city cleaner.”
The award recognises Greater Dandenong's impactful efforts in fostering environmental responsibility and community engagement through effective waste management campaigns.
