Avelo Airlines announced a new travel promotion as it marked four years of operations at Tweed–New Haven Airport. The carrier stated it has transported over 3.8 million passengers since launching in Connecticut.
Following news about Avelo’s departure from Bradley International Airport roughly ten days ago, the company is now offering travelers a discount of 20% on base fares, along with additional savings for Avelo PLUS members. The budget airline currently operates 28 nonstop routes from Tweed.
Late last month, the Connecticut Airport Authority voiced strong disappointment with Avelo’s decision to cease flights from Bradley, emphasizing frustration over the cancellation of the only nonstop route between the state and Montego Bay, Jamaica.
“Like all business decisions we make, this exit was made based on facts – the revenues on the market did not cover the costs. Any other insinuation to the contrary is unfortunate, false and uninformed. We remain committed to serving the state of Connecticut through our low fares out of New Haven Tweed airport,”
responded an Avelo spokeswoman, defending the airline’s move.
Avelo Airlines ends operations at Bradley amid criticism but continues expanding at Tweed with new travel discounts, maintaining its commitment to Connecticut travelers.
