The coldest air of the season is set to arrive Monday, reaching its peak on Tuesday morning. A strong cold front will pass through late Sunday into Monday morning, causing temperatures to fall well below normal.
Monday’s north to northwest winds will keep highs in the 60s. Temperatures will drop further Monday night.
By Tuesday morning, Tampa could see temperatures near its record low of 40 degrees, with wind chills in the low to mid-30s.
Morning lows in the 30s are expected north of Tampa, with a slight chance of near-freezing temperatures in Citrus and Hernando counties. Tuesday’s highs may struggle to exceed 60 degrees north of Tampa.
Wednesday will start cold again, but afternoon temperatures will warm into the 70s as sunshine returns.
