After Cayden Primeau was placed on waivers and Joseph Woll was sent to the Marlies for a conditioning stint, Dennis Hildeby is expected to make his season debut for the Toronto Maple Leafs soon.
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube confirmed that Hildeby will serve as backup to Anthony Stolarz, who is set to make his 12th start of the season when Toronto faces the Boston Bruins.
With Woll temporarily reassigned, keeping Hildeby with the Marlies no longer made sense. The team had already evaluated Primeau over three starts, after which the goaltender was placed on waivers.
While Berube has not officially confirmed Hildeby’s start, all signs suggest he will likely take the net when the Maple Leafs host the Carolina Hurricanes on November 10. With Toronto playing on consecutive nights, it appears improbable that Stolarz would start both games.
“All signs point to Hildeby likely getting the nod when the Leafs host the Carolina Hurricanes.”
Dennis Hildeby is set to make his season debut for Toronto, stepping in as backup to Anthony Stolarz and likely starting against Carolina amid recent goaltender changes.
