Leafs’ Stolarz Pulled After Allowing Four Goals on 19 Shots Against Bruins

Anthony Stolarz struggled on Saturday during the Toronto Maple Leafs’ game against the Boston Bruins, getting pulled after allowing four goals on 19 shots in just over one period. The Maple Leafs eventually lost 5-3.

This marked the first time Stolarz was removed for performance reasons rather than injury during his time with Toronto.

“It’s obviously not up to par,” Stolarz said after the game. “I mean, it seems like every night I’m giving up one or two you want back but, for me, it’s life of a goalie. Have to put it behind you & focus on the next game.”

Stolarz was particularly hard on himself for his slow start.

“First & foremost I gotta bear down & make a save,” he said. “Giving up the first two shots not a good way to start the game.”

Dennis Hildeby stepped in for his season debut, allowing one goal on 20 shots over 32 minutes and 30 seconds.

“He was awesome,” Stolarz praised. “I put him in a s--t situation. He handled it like a true pro.”

Stolarz has yet to regain the strong form he showed in his first season with the Leafs. In 2024-25, he posted a 2.14 goals-against average and led the league with a .926 save percentage over a career-high 34 games.

Summary

Anthony Stolarz faced difficulties in a recent game, resulting in his first non-injury pull with the Leafs, but remains focused on improving and supporting teammates like Dennis Hildeby.
