Popular Salem Restaurant Closing After 7 Years

The Derby Restaurant & Bar, a well-known spot in downtown Salem, will close its doors by Monday, Dec. 1, as new ownership takes over. After nearly seven years of service, the current team announced they are moving on.

“After almost 7 years and enough memories to last a lifetime, it is time to step away. We want to send out a special thank you to all of those that have supported us throughout our journey and make sure we thank ALL of the stellar members of our team for all they have done to make The Derby a success.”

The restaurant also expressed gratitude for the friendships and relationships built over the years.

“It goes without saying that over the years, we have worked with some truly remarkable people that we consider friends and family and will always cherish the relationships The Derby has injected into our lives. Thank you for making the last 7 years so special!”

Community Support and Staff Assistance

Despite challenges, including a forced pause in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Derby bounced back thanks to strong community support. It became a popular venue for drag brunches, Kentucky Derby viewing parties, and Sunday football.

The current management is actively helping staff find new job opportunities with the restaurant’s transition.

Summary

The Derby Restaurant & Bar honors its loyal community and team as it closes after seven vibrant years, supported by strong local ties and anticipation of fresh beginnings under new ownership.
