Presidential Pardon for Army Major
President Bola Tinubu has granted clemency to Major Suleiman Alabi Akubo, a senior Nigerian Army officer.
Akubo, 62, was sentenced to life imprisonment for selling over 7,000 stolen military weapons to Niger Delta militants.
- He was among 175 persons who benefited from a presidential pardon and clemency.
- The National Council of State approved the pardon.
Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga stated that Akubo's life sentence was reduced to 20 years due to "good conduct and remorsefulness."
