As reports point to looming sellout agreement between Canada Post and CUPW, what way forward for postal workers?

Impending Agreement Between Canada Post and CUPW Raises Concerns

Prime Minister Mark Carney has emphasized that his Liberal government sees the dismantling of Canada Post as a test case for broader attacks on workers nationwide. Reports of a Sellout Deal

Multiple media sources suggest that the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) is nearing an agreement with Canada Post that could impose significant cutbacks on jobs and working conditions. Bargaining resumed on Monday, November 3, with CUPW issuing a statement praising the efforts of a government-appointed mediator.

The union bureaucracy expressed its willingness “to overcome the disagreements between the parties” and to “secure ratifiable collective agreements at the bargaining table.”

In a separate communication, the union courteously requested the pro-big business Liberal government, which supports plans to reduce the Canada Post workforce by two-thirds from its 55,000 employees, to ensure that any decisions… are made… with Union input.
