Wicked: For Good introduces two new original songs alongside the well-known tracks from the second act of the Broadway musical. These additions deepen the exploration of Elphaba and Glinda’s stories.
The second part of the movie musical picks up after Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) sings “Defying Gravity,” discovering that the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) is a fraud, alongside her best friend Glinda (Ariana Grande). The film will explore the next chapter in their journeys.
Director Jon M. Chu shared in a September 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly that two new songs were added to expand the story. Stephen Schwartz, the original composer, wrote these fresh pieces.
“Both witches are trying to find their way home,” Chu said. “Both of these songs are about how to do that, and it’s questions that I’ve always wanted to hear from them in the stage show, but never got to. We get to take our time and explore those questions.”
A sneak peek of the two new songs was presented in the Wicked: One Wonderful Night special on NBC ahead of the film’s November 2025 release.
