Saharawi Ambassador Delivers Letter to President of Timor-Leste
Dili (Timor-Leste), 6 November 2025 (SPS) — President of Timor-Leste and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, H.E. Jose Ramos-Horta, received the Saharawi Republic’s Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Abba Malainin, at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace.
During the meeting, Ambassador Malainin presented a letter from the President of the Saharawi Republic and Secretary General of the POLISARIO Front, H.E. Brahim Ghali, addressed to President Ramos-Horta.
The Saharawi President extended heartfelt congratulations for the historic admission of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), calling it a strategic goal and a milestone for the country’s regional integration.
The Ambassador highlighted that this achievement will positively impact Timor-Leste’s economic growth and strengthen cooperation in the region. He also briefed the Timorese President on the latest developments in Western Sahara, notably the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2797 adopted on 31 October 2025.
