Irish-founded fintech company Stripe will become the principal sponsor of the Irish Maths Trust for a three-year period. The Irish Maths Trust organizes the Irish Maths Olympiad, a national mathematics competition for secondary school students.
Stripe’s funding will ensure the continuation of the Olympiad and enable the trust to establish new junior maths enrichment (JME) centres at seven Irish universities:
“The new JME centres will change Ireland’s mathematical landscape for years to come,” said Dr Neil Dobbs, maths lecturer at University College Dublin and chair of the trust.
“We’re thrilled that, with Stripe’s support, we’ll be able to share the joy of challenging mathematics with the next generation all across the country.”
The national Olympiad selects teams to represent Ireland at the International Maths Olympiad. The sponsorship will also fund squad training camps next year preparing the team for this global event.
“Together with the training camps, we’ll see improved performance at international Maths Olympiads and more students achieving great things in STEM,” Mr Dobbs said.
Stripe’s three-year sponsorship of the Irish Maths Trust will sustain the national Olympiad and launch new enrichment centres, boosting STEM achievements across Ireland.
