Syme Joins Foundation Maths Session at Evergreen Primary Academy

Emily Syme participated in the Robins Foundation Key Stage 1 and 2 Active Maths sessions at Evergreen Primary Academy during EFL Week of Action. She engaged in activities and games that combined numeracy with physical movement, making maths fun and accessible for students.

Supporting Students Outside the Classroom

These sessions aim to give extra support to students who may struggle with maths by offering an alternative learning method. The goal is to inspire interest in maths and enhance students’ skills through active participation.

“I’ve studied Maths at University, so am really interested in the education side of the Foundation’s work. It was great to help inspire kids to develop their maths skills in an engaging and active way.”

“The kids all had a lot of energy and it was fun to help them practice their times tables all while keeping active and working together in teams!”

Activities and Rewards

The children took part in number and multiplication-based activities, earning star points for their effort and focus.

Ongoing Foundation Program

The Robins Foundation has been delivering four Active Maths sessions weekly at Evergreen for the past two years.

Senior Community Coach Ollie, who leads the sessions, said, “Having Emily come down to a Maths session is so important for the kids to understand that you can be passionate about lots of different things. We use football and activity as tools to educate and inspire, so having a role model be interested and good at maths is amazing for the kids to see.”
