Michael Bublé Speaks Out on How His Son’s Cancer Journey Affected His Music Career

Michael Bublé Reflects on His Son’s Cancer Journey and Its Impact on His Career

Michael Bublé opened up about how his family experience influenced his outlook on his music career. Known for his association with holiday music and as a coach on The Voice, Bublé’s 2011 album Christmas became a worldwide hit, making his festive songs a seasonal staple.

Although his legacy is strongly connected to Christmas music, Bublé revealed that he was not always comfortable with this identity. During an interview with Willie Geist on Sunday Today on October 26, he shared how his perspective shifted after his oldest son, Noah, was diagnosed with cancer.

“I've always loved Christmas music, but there was a time, years ago now, where my manager used to get mad ... It was like, they wanted me everywhere,” Bublé said. “And then my son got diagnosed with cancer, and I don't know why, but I had the clearest epiphany that day. I remember thinking, 'Why did I ever worry about anything else?' And from that day on, I never felt the same about it again. Weirdly, that'll be the legacy.”

This life-altering moment helped Bublé embrace his musical legacy and appreciate the significance of his holiday music in a new way.
