Former Missouri football kicker Harrison Mevis has joined the practice squad of the Los Angeles Rams, marking another step in his professional career. The Rams made the official announcement on Wednesday.
Mevis, widely known by his nickname “Thiccer Kicker” for his solid 240-pound frame, previously spent time on the New York Jets' roster before being waived in September. He played with the Birmingham Stallions in the United Football League (UFL) last spring.
During his college career, Mevis became Missouri football’s all-time points leader with 405 points, surpassing Jeff Wolfert’s previous record. He also set an SEC record in September 2023, delivering a game-winning 61-yard field goal to defeat Kansas State.
“Missouri football’s all-time points leader is back on an NFL practice squad.”
The Rams currently have one active kicker, Stanford graduate Joshua Karty, who has struggled this season with a 66.7% field-goal conversion rate and an 88.5% success rate on extra-point attempts.
Author’s Summary: Harrison Mevis, Missouri’s record-breaking kicker, re-enters the NFL landscape with the Los Angeles Rams, bringing proven accuracy and consistency from his UFL performance.
