Channel 4 has released the first trailer for Summerwater, a tense new Scottish drama adapted from Sarah Moss’s acclaimed novel of the same name. The six-part series premieres later this month as the first production from Glasgow-based indie Freedom Scripted.
They are supported by a strong lineup including Dougray Scott, Shirley Henderson, Valene Kane, Arnas Fedaravičius, Anna Próchniak, and Gabriel Scott.
The series is adapted by John Donnelly, known for Utopia and The Pass, and directed by Robert McKillop (Guilt) alongside Fiona Walton (Rebus).
Summerwater is set in a rain-soaked holiday cabin park in the Scottish Highlands. The story captures rising tensions among holidaymakers, leading to a powerful and devastating climax. Told through interwoven perspectives, it explores transient beauty, subtle resentments, and hidden pressures beneath everyday life.
