During the press tour for the final season of Stranger Things, director and executive producer Shawn Levy addressed recent reports about on-set bullying allegations involving stars Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour.
Co-creator Ross Duffer, speaking alongside his brother Matt Duffer, said on the red carpet:
“Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
Responding to questions about handling bullying complaints, Levy emphasized the commitment to a positive working atmosphere:
“At the end of the day, that’s the job. You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment. And we’re proud of the fact that we did so.”
Despite the viral report that Brown accused Harbour of harassment and bullying, both actors appeared united and smiling at the season five world premiere in Los Angeles.
Levy also described some of the stories in the viral report as “wildly inaccurate,” underscoring the production team's stance on the matter.
The creators and producers stand by a safe, respectful set environment, dismissing bullying claims as inaccurate while showing solidarity among cast members.
